ELECTRICITY
CONSUMPTION
Help reduce your energy consumption; trust us it will help you out.
Choose the right lights:
LED light bulbs are the most energy efficient and last a lot longer. They use 75% less electricity and last 25 times longer than other bulbs. It takes about 1 LED light bulb to last 25000 hours of continuous use, meaning it will save you a lot of electricity and money.

Unplug idle electronics:
TVs, microwaves, printers, scanners and other electronic appliances use standby power, meaning they still consume electricity when not in use. We think that’s called stealing; don’t let your appliances steal the electricity you work so hard to pay for. Unplug electronics that you are not using.

Turn off the lights:
Just the matter of switching off the lights when not in use. If you are not using it, why leave it on?

Insulate your home:
Maintain the insulation in your roof and ceiling and make sure doors and windows are properly sealed. Doing this will ensure that the warm air stays out and cool air stays in during the summer and the cool air stays out and warm air stays in during the winter. This will allow you to significantly reduce the amount of time you leave the air-conditioning and heater on.

More than 50% of Toronto’s electricity comes from nuclear power, and a very small percentage of it comes from gasoline and coal power, making Toronto one of the cleanest electricity consumption cities in the world. Though nuclear power is said to be a lot more environmentally friendly, it does produce nuclear waste and the small percentage of gasoline and coal power still contributes to climate change. With your help in consuming a little less electricity, Toronto will produce a lot less nuclear waste and reduce its greenhouse gas emissions.
